Our Story

Nestled in a backyard in Albany, CA lies Girl And Her Dog Farm. This isn’t just a normal backyard, this is a working farm; home to our small CSA program run by me, Michelle, and my sweet dog Rita.

This small CSA, short for Community Supported Agriculture, feeds a handful of families every other week from spring to fall. Veggies, fruits, herbs, and fresh flower bouquets are all grown organically within our front and backyard and crafted into a produce box for delivery. Neighbors stop by while we refresh garden beds to admire the zinnias or ask how we stop the local deer from devouring everything. This farm, though small in size, is creating community around homegrown food.

We also run a licensed cottage bakery from our home kitchen, whipping up sourdough baked goods every other week. Harvesting fresh herbs and hand-picked fruit from our garden to incorporate into our baking is what really brings our craft full circle. From strawberry sourdough scones to garlic and herb focaccia, we love to delight neighbors and friends with fresh recipes.

After apprenticing at the UC Santa Cruz Farm, I wanted to share the skills and knowledge I learned on a big scale farm to a small scale backyard. To spark that inspiration in our favorite way, my sweet dog, silly chickens, and I jump in front of the camera, creating helpful videos on Instagram and Youtube. We share tips and tricks in the garden from starting a compost bin to planting out a bed of tomatoes, and there’s almost always something to make our audience smile.
